King Tut Exhibit in NYC

By Admin On April 24, 2010 No Comments

A mummy lurk into Manhattan! Entitled as “Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs”, the mummy-boy of King Tut is exhibited at the hall of the new Discovery Times Square Exposition. The King Tut Exhibit is opened today through through January 2, 2011. The exhibition features 130 of three thousand years old artifacts, 50 from the tomb of the nine-years-old King himself and the others from other royal tombs.

Some of the collections have been exhibited in New York 31 years ago at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but most of the items have never been exhibit outside the Egypt before. The past exhibition had ignited what so called “Tutmania” across New York. Perhaps you can even recall a song of Steve Martin about King Tut below.

To cite www.familytravelforum.com, the admission fee is $27.50 for adults; $25.50 for seniors, and $17.50 for ages 4-12 (children under 4 enter free). Timed tickets can be purchased online or by calling 1-888-9-TUT-NYC (888/988-8692). Families may explore the exhibit as long as they want. Outside the doors is a new 3D film (24-minutes) that we did not see, that will cost an extra $5. The facility will also have a large gift shop and a small cafe for snacks.

The website said that 50% of the proceeds from ticket sales go to fund the work of preserving Egypt’s stunning collections, not only of antiquities, but of monuments from its Jewish and Islamic traditions as well. King Tut exhibit will be open from 10am to 8pm Sunday through Wednesday and 10am to 9:30 Thursday through Saturday. Check with www.kingtut.org for further enquiries.
